I think you have to be within a 65 day window of your wedding date to get the license since it expires.  We live in the same town we got married in so that wasn't an issue but the ct.gov site states...You must apply for your marriage license at the vital records office of the town where the marriage is to take place.

yup, it's the town where your marriage CEREMONY is to take place.

i thought it was 60 days, but i could be wrong.  maybe it varries by town?  Rule of Thumb...go about a week before your wedding, and you generally can't go wrong.  (just don't go the day before...some towns have 24-hr holds until they give you the license!)

Yes, I suggest at least 1. I got two copies if you have to change the name on your passport you have to send a certified copy not just a copy. Also I kept one with me until I got everything with my new name on it, and I kept one at home in the lock box.

definitely get a certified copy, especially if you'll be changing your name.  you need a certified copy as proof to change things like your license/reg, social security card, passport, etc.  we only got 1 certified copy, but it's not a bad idea to have 2.  (especially since when you change your passport, you have to mail them a certified copy, and they mail it back later...)
